1st Day at Rock Island 8/23

I admit, I was a little nervous on the 1st day that I was at Rock Island.  I had to go to the security office & get my visitor pass which will be good for 30 days while my I am getting my security clearance.  Bryan was great & told me exactly where to go, who to see, etc.  I guess it wasn't so hard since he did this same thing just a few months ago.

When I arrived at my new office, it was rather sad.  I had a desk but not even a chair.  So I have taken over Toralf's (Bryan's boss & one of the partners in the company) Office.  He wasn't there & he doesn't use that office anyway so I figure, possession is 9/10ths of the law & I am now possessing that office.  Actually, I talked w/ Julie (the partner that I report to) & she said is was her intention for me to be in that office so there ya go!  It's officially mine.

I was a little limited on what I could do since I didn't have a printer yet.  But I did the best I could.  Had to stay up late on Monday to finish up a few things but I have confidence that when I get my scanner/printer, things will be much smoother.

Telesto is renting my office space from another consulting firm.  They have a Keurig Coffee Pot which all you know, made me smile!  AUsome!

I went over to the command center & met a few folks but didn't see Bryan.  I was a little disappointed but I quickly got over it when I saw him later that night.  It doesn't look like he & I will see much of each other on the base since we are in different buildings but that's ok too.  Both of us being here still beats being 1/2 way across the country from each other.

We decided to pick up Sydney & go to eat at "The Boathouse Restaurant".  When I came out to visit in June, we ate there & it was really good.  That must have been the opening act or the normal chef was off, because we didn't enjoy our dinner at all.  The restaurant sits right on the Mississippi & the view is just beautiful.  We sat outside on the back deck & the flies just about carried Sydney away.  Never realized there would be such a fly problem in Iowa.
